Mount Dora in Mid-September

In Denali National Park
Many activities are available nearby, including various ranger-led activities within or near Denali National Park. Possibilities include ranger-led talks, guided hikes, sled dog demonstrations and the Northern Lights theater with presentations on the Aurora Borealis. The National Park entrance also features a variety of gift shops and items of local interest.

Nearby, Outside the Park
Other activities include white water rafting, scenic river floats, kayaking on rivers or lakes (lessons available), flightseeing—fixed wing or helicopter tours—and many hiking trails, ranging from easy to difficult. Take a horseback tour, rent a bicycle (you can take your bike on a shuttle bus into the park and then ride out on your own), go on a backcountry ATV adventure or 4-wheel drive tour into the wild, take a covered wagon ride, go golfing, or head out fly fishing for Arctic Grayling or Rainbow Trout. You’ll also find that abundant photo opportunities, and wildlife and wildflower viewing are just a short distance from your doorstep!

Outdoor Considerations
Please dress warmly and wear comfortable and sturdy walking shoes. It is best to dress in layers so you can add or remove clothing as needed: even in mid-summer, we can have overnight lows near freezing, and a daytime temperature in the 80s (F) with the sun overhead. In mid-June, the sun sets at approximately 12:30 a.m., and rises at approximately 3:30 a.m., in mid-July the sun sets at midnight and rises at 4:15 a.m., and in mid-August, the sun sets at about 10:00 p.m. and rises at 5:45 a.m., which gives you plenty of daylight for your outdoor activities.
